Weight: 170lbs
Hair: Reddish blonde
Eyes: Blue
Skin: Fair, Irish complexion
Other distinguishing Features: Various battle scars, none of which have carried over to the afterlife

Fighting Skills: Excellent, trained for both police work as well as additional training with the X-Men. Specializes in armed combat, and usually reaches for his gun before resorting to using his powers or hand-to hand combat.
Other Skills: In another life, Sean could have been an actor- his ability to take on new personas and identities on the fly was what allowed him to make his way with Interpol.
In addition to the superhuman hearing his power allows him, he also has an ear for music and tones- i.e., he can play music by ear, as well as identify a phone number by hearing the tones dialed.
Sean seems to have a natural BS detector, he's able to read the expressions on a person's face to determine whether or not they're lying. It isn't a perfect science, but years of interrogating suspects has allowed him to learn what unconscious movements someone makes when lying.

Powers: Sean's vocal chords are built to generate hypersonic frequencies- in other words, he can be inhumanly loud. His codename comes from the wailing demon of Irish legend, and it suits him aptly (despite the banshee traditionally being female). It's unknown just how many decibels that Sean's scream can reach, but it is enough to do permanent damage to a target's ears, if not render them permanently deaf. If focused, Sean's scream can shatter or liquefy almost any substance, with some obvious exceptions (adamantium, anything specifically made to withstand intense amounts of sound or vibrations).
Through the use of limited psionic abilities (which work only in unison with his sonic abilities) Sean can also generate and manipulate sound waves to propel himself through the air in flight, create shields of sound waves to deflect projectiles, create sonic pulses for echolocation, and create inaudible vibrations that can render a human target dizzy & nauseous or unconscious by disturbing the inner ear.
To compensate for his powers, Sean possesses an immunity to the effects of intense sound (so he doesn't cause damage to himself), as well as superhuman hearing (in order to monitor and control the sound waves he creates).

Do they still have their powers?: Yes, genetic mutation

Special Limitations: If Sean's vocal chords were to be damaged, he'd be left powerless. If pushed beyond his limits, he can strain his vocal chords, resulting in a complete loss of powers (this has happened once before). His powers would be almost useless if in combat with another mutant related to him by blood (Black Tom, Siryn).

Source of Powers: Mutation

Three Items: Photo album, the letter Tom wrote him explaining who Theresa is, medallion with the Cassidy family crest

Personality:
Sean is at first glance, a curmudgeon to the core. He has a low tolerance for stupidity or foolishness and is horridly stubborn. However, once one he warms up to someone, he can be downright jolly with them.
He’s a passionate man; extremely committed to his causes and friends. He’s the kind of guy who’d sacrifice himself in an instant if he thought it could help his friends- in fact, he has done so, overexerting his powers in order to save his team-mates, leaving him nearly mute for a short time, and powerless for even longer. Even his death was in an attempt to save a plane full of people.
He is old-fashioned to a fault, taking on a softer tone with members of the opposite sex, and he's the type to hold open doors and pull out chairs for a lady.
He has a soft spot for kids, even if he doesn’t understand them half the time.

Quotes: “There’s always a new dawn, lass. That’s the big fella’s way of tellin’ us there’s always hope in the world.”

"They seem like a fine brood of children... I might as well accept the truth now: They're going to bury me alive." –Gen X ashcan preview.

Quirks: Other than being a walking Irish stereotype? Not many. In his days among the living, he had horrible luck with cell phones.

Hobbies: Old country and jazz music. Is actually a talented pianist.

History:

Sean grew up with his cousin Tom in their family’s ancestral home, Cassidy Keep in County Mayo, Ireland. The Keep also served as a home to a number of mythological beings, specifically, the Clan O’Donnel tribe of leprechauns (yeah… you read that right. Leprechauns. That’s Silver Age Marvel for you, folks.)

For the early years of their lives, Sean and Tom were like brothers, and they found at an early age that not only were they both mutants, but they were immune to each others’ powers.

The two remained close as they grew up, even when Sean went into law enforcement, eventually secretly becoming an undercover Interpol agent. Only one thing came between them; a stunning blonde with a penchant for motorcycles by the name of Maeve Rourke.

Sean met Maeve when she rescued him from two corrupt police officers who were intent on framing the young man as an IRA scout (he was simply hitchhiking home from a concert). Despite having just met the girl, Sean used his powers openly in front of her. To his surprise, she wasn’t the least bit frightened by them.
He brought her home to Cassidy Keep, where Tom met her and was as smitten with her as Sean was. Sean was convinced that she would opt for Thomas over him- Tom was the charming heir to the Keep, while Sean saw himself as the bumpkin of the family.
The two competed for Maeve’s affection for some time, until she finally chose Sean over his cousin. Tom relented, only wanting to see the woman he loved happy, and even served as the best man at their wedding. The cousins remained civil, though they were far from being as close as they had been before.

Shortly after their wedding, Sean had to go deep undercover for Interpol, unable to have any contact outside of the mission. Unbeknownst to him, Maeve was pregnant with their daughter, Theresa. She gave birth to the little girl while Sean was still incommunicado, and the news that he was a father was unable to reach him.

Sean was, in fact, so deep undercover that not even the news of Maeve’s death could reach him until he came home. She had been visiting family in Belfast when an IRA bombing had taken place, killing her. It was assumed by most that little Theresa had perished as well, the only person who knew she had survived was Tom, who had rescued the infant in the aftermath of the explosion.

Tom wanted to surprise Sean with the news of Theresa’s birth after he told him of Maeve’s death to lighten the blow. Unfortunately, Sean was so stricken with grief, guilt and anger over his wife’s death that he turned against Tom, collapsing the ground under his cousin’s feet using his powers. Tom’s leg was broken so badly in the fall that he would have to walk with a cane for the rest of his life.

Tom became bitter over his cousin’s actions, and decided not to tell Sean of Theresa’s existence at all. He told Theresa that she was an orphan, and raised the young girl on his own.

Sean threw himself into his work with Interpol, opting not to return to Cassidy Keep due to the memories it held. He worked for Interpol (and for a short time, the NYPD as a liaison) for ten years until he was forced to quit after a botched mission in which the mercenary known as Deadpool killed the mobster they were trying to find information on (though in doing this, he saved Sean’s life, as the criminal was about to shoot him).

After leaving Interpol, Sean spent time as a costumed vigilante, but was eventually captured by the criminal organization Factor Three and forced to work for them against his will. When forced to fight against the X-Men, Professor Xavier was able to disable the device being used to control Banshee. Sean was both relieved and thankful, but decided to pursue Factor Three on his own instead of joining the teenaged mutant heroes.

Some time later, Banshee was captured again by Factor Three, but was able to send the X-Men the co-ordinates of the organization’s base. Together, they took down the Mutant Master, the man behind Factor Three.

Sean would later join the “Second Genesis” team of the X-Men to save the original five members from the living island Krakoa. He was hesitant to stay on the team afterwards, feeling he was too old, but the Professor convinced him.
His second mission proved to be a hard one. Unable to save his team mate, John Proudstar (Thunderbird), he was forced to watch the man die before his eyes.

Within weeks he had made himself at home on the team, even becoming somewhat close friends with the Professor. When Moira MacTaggert arrived at the mansion under the guise of a housekeeper, Sean was immediately smitten with the woman. The two pursued a relationship that would last for years.

Sean stayed with the X-Men for a number of missions (including one that turned out to be a trap set by his cousin at Cassidy Keep), but eventually, while fighting Moses Magnum to save the nation of Japan, Sean pushed himself too hard. In using his powers to relocate a wall of rock to deflect the villain’s attacks, he found his powers’ limit and went beyond it. The overuse of his abilities left him in the hospital for weeks, and while his health recovered, it seemed his powers were lost.

Soon afterwards, after the death of Moira’s son Proteus, he opted to stay on Muir Island. It was there, after the X-Men fought and subdued Black Tom and Juggernaut, that Sean was united with his daughter, Theresa.

After some time, Moira began acting strangely. She had been hypnotized by Mastermold and forced to design the Retribution Virus, a disease designed to kill mutants. Sean was one of the first mutants infected, and his health began to fade.
Mastermold was defeated, and Moira was able to discover a cure for Retribution. The cure pushed Sean’s system into overdrive and restored his powers, at least temporarily.

Later, the island came under attack by Donald Pierce’s Reavers. One of the anti-mutant group shot Sean straight through the heart. Amanda Sefton, Nightcrawler’s foster sister, transported Sean to the Morlock Healer, who was able to not only save his life, but fully restore his throat to its original state, permanently restoring his powers.

After the X-Tinction Agenda, Sean re-joined the X-Men, and tried to contact Moira to tell her. She was once again acting strangely, and it was discovered everyone back at the Muir Island institute was under the influence of the Shadow King.
Sean was forced to fight both Moira and his daughter to defeat the evil telepath. After his influence was banished, Sean attempted to continue his relationship with Moira.

But Moira had discovered that years ago, she had unknowingly tampered with Magneto’s DNA. Feeling horrible about this, she went off on her own, refusing any help or sympathy from Sean or Charles.
Sean pursued her, but eventually found she was doing just fine on her own after coming to terms with her past actions. He opted to spend some time alone himself, taking an extended vacation in the Canary Islands.

When he returned to the X-Mansion months later, he found Moira had as well. They renewed their relationship once more, though they found they had less time to spend together due to their responsibilities with the X-Men.

Sean also attempted to develop a healthier relationship with Theresa, who had joined X-Force. The two decided that it would be easier, for the time, to act as friends as opposed to father and daughter, as much as it pained Sean to do so.

Later, after fighting off the Phalanx, Sean and Emma Frost decided to open a second school for young mutants, taking in the mutant teenagers who would come to be known as Generation X. While the two headmasters butted heads regularly, they did the best they could to lead their students and eventually developed a mutual respect.

Nothing lasts forever though. Generation X disbanded shortly after the death of Moira MacTaggart, which pushed Sean towards a bout of depression and borderline alcoholism.

He managed to kick the drinking habit, but was still not quite himself when he founded X-Corps. After many, many misguided actions, his creation crumbled around him after things went awry and Mystique stabbed him in the throat, temporarily rendering him powerless.

After the events of House of M, Sean returned to Muir Island in a search for a clue as to where the now-missing Charles Xavier could be. What he found was a startling video diary by his late lady-love, Moira MacTaggart, revealing a dark secret about Xavier. He took the computer hard drive it was stored on, and took the first flight he could get onto to New York.

Just as the plane was about to land, the X-Men’s Blackbird, which had been remotely hijacked, crashed in to the plane was on. He managed to get out one last scream in an attempt to save his fellow passengers, but failed. He died in the blast.

Death:
Sean was nearing forty nine when he died, in a heroic, last-ditch effort to prevent the hijacked Blackbird from crashing in to a commercial airliner full of innocent passengers. While he was able to keep the cockpit of the Blackbird intact, he hit and went through the plane’s windshield and died on impact.
It’s worth noting, however, the computer hard drive that contained Moira’s video diary somehow managed to survive the crash, perhaps rendering Sean’s death not entirely meaningless.
Sean died as he lived, protecting the lives of others.
